About the Artist

.

Tim Cribbs, 25, is a digital artist and graphic designer native to Northwest Arkansas. He grew up in the rural and isolated outskirts of Pea Ridge, AR. He attended college at San Diego State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Marketing. In parallel, he worked to hone his artistic abilities through independent study and practice.

After graduating, he returned to Northwest Arkansas. Working primarily in marketing and graphic design, through which he is able to fund his independent art venture. With the handicap of not being able to work full-time as an artist, he relies on quality over quantity (averaging only one completed work a season) and holds himself to a high standard of exceptional quality and originality with every work.

Average isn't enticing, after all.

Notable to his process, he’s developed his own method of mixing mediums to achieve his aesthetic ends. With fluency in computer graphics software stemming from an early interest in movie special effects, Tim uses 3D sculpting and modeling to simulate complex interactions of light and perspective. Far more than the digital equivalent of having a live model and studio, 3D sculpting and modeling allow the freedom to paint with full control and manipulation of reference material and their lighting environment.

His modern method differentiates the subject matter of his paintings as they are unique to his work alone; landscapes, architecture, and people that simply don't exist outside of his renditions of them. His portfolio varies to demonstrate a broad range of competencies whether painting landscape or portrait, realistic or stylized, traditional or modern. Accompanying his fine art is a portfolio of graphic design, web design, and marketing material synthesizing his self-taught artistic education with his formal business degree.

Overall, Tim Cribbs is pursuing an artistic identity that demonstrates the leveraging of modern technology and how it can be synthesized with traditional aesthetic principles and practices to achieve a higher artistic potential.
